NIAG Coalition of the Willing

Special interest group

Purpose

The purpose of the COW is to inform, engage and, if appropriate, utilise those people who are interested in the industrial contribution to NATO and wish to play a more active role in support of the UK NIAG, shy of an actual representative role at this stage.  Members of the COW would act as UK NIAG advisers and advocates.  This would involve greater engagement than achieved through the UKINF but less commitment than that expected from the representatives of the NIAG.

Objectives

There are 5 objectives for members of the COW:

  1. For the UK NIAG Delegation to be better informed
  2. To gather diverse insights for the UK NIAG Delegation
  3. To enlist advocacy
  4. To burden share particular projects of work
  5. To provide a recruitment pool for UK NIAG Representative roles

The ways that this could be done is through greater information flow; invitation to NIAG monthly meetings; and leading on tasks as appropriate.

Individuals join the COW, rather than companies. This means that delegation of CoW meetings or commitments is not appropriate, and that if someone wishes to leave the CoW and a colleague wishes to join, they will have to make a separate application.
