Malvern Optical is a Research and Development company, also offering independent Test and Measurement services, within the electro-optics (EO) and electromagnetics (EM) domains. We are primarily focused on undertaking work for the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), UK Government Agencies, and the UK Defence Industry. Much of our work covers platforms, systems and sub-systems for these customers, supported by three core technical teams of Electromagnetics, Sensors and Materials. 
Malvern Optical is a UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited test house (to ISO 17025:2017) providing independent testing to UK MOD and Industry. We hold First-of-Type platform TEMPEST accreditation from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) as well as being able to hold firearms under a Section 5 license from the Home Office. Our secure facilities include one of the World’s largest low-light test facilities (100x40x10m), a suite of materials characterisation equipment (UV to far-infrared) and one of the UK’s largest RF screened rooms (16x16x7m) able to accommodate a main battle tank with full turret rotation.
We regularly provide assessments and advice covering multiple defence standards, such as 59-411 (electromagnetic compatibility), 61-005 (power quality), 08-006 (signatures), as well as NATO standards such as SDIP 27/3 (TEMPEST assurance).
